Birst’s 2019 schedule is out. Here’s what you need to know.

Last week, Birst announced integration with Infor Coleman AI and Smart Analytics following the first of four major upgrade releases of the year. Releases happen every three months on the last Friday of the month, meaning subsequent 2019 releases should happen April 26, July 26, and October 25. If you are already using Birst or looking to add the business intelligence software to your organization’s arsenal this year, here’s what to expect with these updates in 2019.

TGIF2019 Birst Schedule

Brief downtime is expected during the release, but should not cause much concern, as this is typically performed late Friday night. Birst is cloud-based, so updates happen automatically, alleviating the burden on IT to do something to get the new release. However, basic compatibility testing is encouraged in the user interface (UI). This includes checking areas such as dashboards, reports, security, drills, expressions, and the visualizer tool.

What version is current?

On January 25, Birst released version 5.33, retiring the previous “default version,” 5.32. Birst allows you to choose which version you want to be on, offering a choice of 5.33, 5.34 (beta), or “default” (5.33). You could upgrade early, but keep in mind that Infor is resolving any bugs before it becomes the default release.

Birst Connect

With the release of the new version, users must upgrade the Birst Cloud Agents to ensure access to the latest functionality as well as proper database connectivity. Birst Connect must run the same Birst version as your Birst server.

Final Notes

  • Although the Web Services/API auto-updates with the UI, users still need to update the URL endpoint for any code written.
  • If users decide to run admin-managed scheduled reports (not user defined), then they need to update the version of those reports.
