Nailed It: Infor Mobile Supply Chain Management Mobile Label Printing

Desktop internet usage has been on the decline for a number of years, giving rise to mobile apps and powerful efficiency gains. Whether accessing content on the desktop or via a mobile device, user expectation is similar: the technology needs to work in a way that allows you to be more productive and collaborative.

A Midwest university medical center invested in the Infor Mobile Supply Chain Management application to provide inventory information to on-the-go team members but was unable to get the mobile label printer to print delivery documentation on the label. Infor’s Mobile Supply Chain Management (MSCM) module enhances the receiving, delivery, and inventory management processes by automating data collection. After trying to resolve the mobile printer issue on their own, the medical center’s SCM team sought assistance from Infor certified consultants with expertise in procure-to-pay business processes (that’s us!).Supply Chain Mobile Receipt Printing

Identifying the root cause and opening a ticket with Infor support were the first steps to achieving resolution. A strategic (read: close) relationship with Infor, deep partnership with the healthcare provider’s technical and SCM teams, and our own skilled resources led to collaborative sessions and testing scenarios.

After finding an error with the POTrack scheduler (for the technically curious: it was not processing files in the Arrival folder) changes were made to the directory. A test was performed, the label did print, but it was not the delivery document label. After isolating the issue, the technical team revaluated the system set up, redirected the printer, and the delivery document printed as a label. Success!

Why are we so excited? Our customer spent two years working to resolve the issue with MSCM and ability to print delivery documentation on the label. Our team nailed it in less than two months – a testament to the faster time to value achieved through experienced, dedicated Infor certified resources.

Veronica Carter is senior consultant, CloudSuite Supply Management at Avaap. She led the team that accomplished printing of the delivery document on the mobile label printer with Infor Mobile Supply Chain Management software.
