New Orleans, home to Inforum 2019, was the place to be the last week in September, especially for Infor partners, customers, and employees. It was a bit of homecoming for me, as it also was the five-year anniversary of my first Inforum conference. While a lot has changed since Inforum 2014, a lot has stayed the same. Mainly, there’s a lot of interest among Infor customers in product innovation and how Infor’s modern applications drive efficiency.
Monumental momentum. Infor CEO Kevin Samuelson delivered an energetic keynote where he shared updates on Infor’s R&D investment, implementation accelerators, increase in cloud customers (10K+!) and countries where there are customers operating on Infor software. Growth was a key message alongside customer success and how customers are leveraging technology to advance business goals.
The Hub was packed. Attendance was noticeably up for Inforum 2019 and many attendees noted they were back after a gap year in conference attendance. Washington, D.C. was home to Inforum 2018 and celebrated the theme of human potential. The main message coming out of Inforum 2019 was productivity, which was apparent by the activity inside the Hub. People were using their time attending sessions to learn how Infor software applications can make their companies more efficient, productive, and streamlined in their approach to how work gets done.
CloudSuite planning is getting real. The CloudSuite story and customer traction has been building since Infor announced its industry-specific application suites in 2014. We had the thrill of bringing Palos Health, the first healthcare customer live on Infor CloudSuite Financials and Supply Chain Management, in 2017 and hearing Roger Russell share the experience getting to go live on the main stage. This year, we had an abundance of customers share the desire to take advantage of Infor’s modern technology stack and beginning to plan their journey.
Actionable insight inspired action. Avaap led three Birst sessions at Inforum 2019 including, Paradise by the Dashboard Light: The Power of Informed Decision-Making, which was a standing room-only event with more than 70 attendees interested in the role of dashboards for real-time visibility and how to connect people and business data.
Change Management was hot. One topic that caught a lot of attention was the importance of navigating the people side of technology change and the value of a best practices approach to organizational change management. Transformation is a key priority for many organizations. There was a lot of recognition for the impact to people when moving to new applications in the cloud, and proactively planning for change as part of the technology journey.
There was a lot of fun to be had. I’ll admit it: we pushed it real good with our customers, colleagues, and friends during the Salt-n-Pepa kick off and got diiiirty with Christina Aguilera at the Inforum 2019 customer appreciation concert. Avaap hosted a memorable event at Mardi Gras World’s Grand Oaks Mansion, including our Vice President Doug Kittrell taking over on the drums for a rendition of Walking on Sunshine that got everyone up on their feet.
