CLIENT Overview

Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is a public university located on the northwest side of Chicago. A predominantly hispanic-serving institution, NEIU has close to 5,000 undergraduate students across four campuses. NEIU selected Workday to modernize HR business processes and improve the employee experience. NEIU is the first public university in Illinois live on Workday.

The Challenge

The HR team at NEIU was buried under paper processes, having processed close to 3,000 paper forms in 2021. Operating in silos, they were not able to be an effective business partner. After leadership saw the opportunity for transformation to bring efficiency, collaboration, and transparency, NEIU selected Workday and Avaap. 

Key Highlights

Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Workday Payroll deployed by Avaap

Northeastern Illinois University selected Workday to unify human capital management and payroll and bring the entire campus under one system in the cloud. Workday HCM and Payroll reduce administrative burdens on HR staff  by enhancing employee engagement and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. 

MODERNIZING SYSTEMS AND ADDING VALUE

With Workday HCM and Payroll, NEIU was able to modernize their systems, add more value, and transform business processes. What used to take the team three days now takes just a few minutes or an hour. For payroll, automating processes has saved the team more than six hours per week. NEIU has eliminated thousands of pieces of paper and delays while increasing transparency for employees.
