Better Visibility and Accountability

CLIENT Overview

Hinds County, Mississippi, is the most populous county in the state. After more than 30 years of operating with a home-grown system, county leadership selected Workday to modernize systems and standardize processes.

The Challenge

Hinds County’s legacy system was a burden on their IT department, as well as the entire organization. Employees were not able to access departmental data or perform tasks as simple as pulling reports. Processes were not standard, people operated in silos, and the county had little visibility into which employees were accountable for each aspect of important business processes.

Key Highlights

Workday Financial Management deployed by Avaap

After selecting the entire Workday platform, Hinds County decided to deploy Workday Financial Management first, as financial operations were in the most critical need of modernization. Workday Financial Management provides one system and one source of truth for the county, in addition to better visibility and transparency for how taxpayer dollars are being spent.

INCREASED TRANSPARENCY AND INSIGHTS
With Workday, Hinds County immediately noticed the increase in visibility into all aspects of financial processes, including better understanding into ownership and roles through financial tasks. The county was also able to redirect resources to clear bottlenecks and reduce the amount of time employees had to spend on administrative tasks.
Hinds County and Avaap

Hinds County selected Avaap due to its extensive experience in state and local government transformation, as well as Avaap’s previous experience with transformation at Hinds Community College, the county’s largest higher education institution.
